The Maple Leaf Quilters, MLQ, is a guild of approximately 100 members who share the love of all things quilted, piced, appliqued or embelished.
We are based in Rutland, Vermont with members from Rutland, Addison, and Windham Counties.
In 1981, if you were a quilter, you might have belonged to the 'Round Rutland Quilters group. In 1982 the name was changed to the Maple Leaf Quilters, and the same spirit of encouraging the art of quilting remained.
Several of the original 'Round Rutland Quilters still belong to MLQ today.
Our first quilt show, known as the "Festival of Quilts" was held in April, 1982 at the Rutland Free Library. The shows changed from every year to every other year and our 26th show will be held March 31 and April 1, 2012 at the College of St. Joeseph in Rutland.
Community Service is important to the Guild members, and we annually make at least one quilt for an area organization that they in turn can use as part of their fundraising efforts.
