MLQ Summer Sewing Challenge 2024
The theme is Black, White, and Color POP!
The quilt can be pieced, appliqued, or a combination of techniques but must not have any embellishments. Black and white can include gray tones that can add dimension to your design. The “POP” must read as one color. This can be a solid, blender, or tonal. It can be shades of the same color but limited to that one color. Ex: you can use light and dark blue if it is a similar tone. Use your imagination.
Please make a quilt with a top, batting, and a back that is quilted and not tied.
Size should be from 36” to 60” on each side. These quilts should be appropriate for tummy-time, crib, or lap-size youth (kids up to teens) quilts.
Please bring the finished quilt to the September meeting. There will be a "Viewers' choice" vote for best Summer Challenge Quilt with a
small prize.
Go, Sew, and Have Fun this Summer helping MLQ donate blankets to the community. ***All will be donated to comfort blankets.

Seeing Red
Maple Leaf Quilters 2018 Festival of Quilts Challenge (Was held April 2018)
“I always liked red. It's a picker-upper.” Nancy Reagan
“Red is such an interesting color to correlate with emotion, because it's on both ends of the spectrum. On one end you have happiness, falling in love,
infatuation with someone, passion, all that. On the other end, you've got obsession, jealousy, danger, fear, anger, and frustration.” Taylor Swift
Red Quilt, Your Design
Make a quilt (front, back, and batting) using mostly red fabrics. Should measure 5 inches by 36 inches and will hang with the length down (sleeve will be
5 inches). Quilt should be noticeably red with at least 50% made with red fabrics.
Enjoy. ** Remember the size is 5 inches by 36 inches
